FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Can I race without a dog?
Absolutely! We understand your need to be in the company of canines.
Can I race with more than 1 dog?
Each participant may only run 1 dog at a time. If you’d like to race twice with different dogs each time, you’ll need to purchase a registration for each dog. Make sure to switch your race bib between each dog. This will ensure to capture each dog’s timed result.
I'm not in the best shape. Can I still race?
UltiMutt offers competitive and fun run categories to suit all fitness levels.
What is the difference between the Competitive & Fun Run?
Only Competitive Wave runners are timed and have a chance to win UltiMutt Champion. To skip an obstacle they must perform 30 squats. Fun Run has same course/obstacles, and may skip any obstacle without a 30 squat penalty.
Do I have to keep my dog on a leash?
Dogs must be leashed at all times. Any off-leash moment during, before, or after the race will result in an immediate participant removal by security.
Is the starting line chaotic with all those dogs?
We start 5 racers every 1 minute to allow for comfortable racing and prevention of bottlenecking on obstacles. The Start Line area is organized by waves and is near an open field where you can keep your dog distanced if needed.
I’m not sure how my dog will act around other dogs, should I bring him?
If your dog has never been around unfamiliar dogs, crowds, or a festival atmosphere, you can’t be certain how he will react and it is best not to risk making him uncomfortable or causing an issue for other racers. For information on socializing your dog or determining whether your dog is comfortable around other dogs, please consult your veterinarian.

Is the race timed?
The Competitive Wave is chip timed from your race bib. The time is calculated based upon when you individually cross the start line and finish line. The Fun Run is not timed…just have fun!

What leashes are allowed/prohibited?
Retractable leashes are not allowed. To reduce risk of injury, we highly recommend using a hands-free leash and a dog harness instead of a collar. (Tip: A hands-free leash helps you get through obstacles.)
Is my dog healthy enough to race?
All dogs must be at least 1 year old, up to date on all vaccinations (Rabies, DHPP, Bordetella), must not have any health issues, sicknesses, limitations resulting from old age, and must not have any history/sign of aggression. Any instance of aggression or any medical record revealing a lapse in vaccination on raceday will result in an automatic disqualification from current and any future UltiMutt events without refund. For the safety of other racers, if a dog is a disturbance to other racers, UltiMutt Staff reserve the right to request your immediate removal of the dog from the event premises.
How do I weigh my dog?
Step on a weight scale and record your weight. Holding your dog in your arms, step on the scale again and record the new weight. Subtract the two weights and the difference is your dog’s weight.
